Elaine was born and raised in Negeri Sembilan. She graduated with an LL.B from Oxford Brookes University in 2013 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2017. Thereafter, she commenced her pupillage at Messrs Azhar & Wong in Kuala Lumpur, where she was exposed to banking litigation, attending court as well as bankruptcy and winding up proceedings. She joined Messrs Yeoh Mazlina & Partners even before being called to the bar in 2017 as a conveyancing legal associate. Throughout her time there, she handled a broad range of conveyancing transactions, including sub-sales agreements, sale and purchase of properties (commercial, retail and residential), and property financing (both conventional and Islamic), covering consumer and commercial loans and corporate refinancing. She also solely oversaw the firm's loan department and advised clients on the entire conveyancing and banking process.
Apart from that, she was also involved in corporate matters, mainly drafting, vetting and finalising commercial and corporate agreements. Her expertise includes advising on and handling succession law matters (including non-contentious and contentious estate administration), applications for the discharge or annulment of bankruptcy, the sale and purchase of properties and tenancies, loan documentation for various financial institutions, family law matters, and the drafting of wills, trusts, shareholders' agreements and partnership agreements.
